Phantasy Star is a multimedia franchise created by SEGA. The series started in 1987 on the master system, and is still being produced today. While the early entries in the seires were single player games every entry in the series since the Dreamcast has been an MMO.

The series centers upon explorers in space, colonizing new worlds with massive space ships. Much like the Star Ocean series, however, these new worlds are typically developed and populated like your average JRPG fantasy world.

Banshee[]

The Banshee, Ghost, and Haunt are common enemies in Phantasy Star III. They attack with Foi magic.

Dryad[]

The Dryad/Nerid/Sylph are common enemies in Phantasy Star III. Their only skill is healing.

Fatale[]

The Fatale/Morte/Finis are common enemies in Phantasy Star III. When they aren't kickboxing they attack with Zan.

Harpy[]

The Harpy/Gryffin are common enemies in Phantasy Star III. They attack with Zan magic.

Medusa[]

Medusa is a boss in Phantasy Star. She dwells in, predictably, Medusa's Tower.

She reappears as a normal enemy in PS: Gaiden along with the Snakewoman.

Mother Brain[]

Mother Brain is the end boss of Phantasy Star II.

Panthera[]

Panthera is a random enemy in Climatrol in Phantasy Star II. In the Genesis version this enemy is known as Catman, despite very obviously not being any sort of "man".

A similar enemy appears in Phantasy Star III, the Beastess/Trogess/Demoness. She attacks with Zan magic.

Profound Darkness[]

The recurring final enemy of nearly all Phantasy Star games, the Profound Darkness is the ultimate threat facing life in the universe. It's final form in PSIV is that of a woman.
